Three months after, APC silent as thieves stole journalist's car covering party’s congress

It's been over three months that thieves stole a Pontiac Vibe 2004 model car belonging to a Correspondent of the Leadership Newspapers in Bauchi, Mr. Khalid Idris Doya while covering the activities of All Progressives Congress (APC) but the party has never sympathised nor compensated him.

According to Mr Doya, he was invited to cover the party’s Congress held at its State Secretariat along Maiduguri road on March 03, 2026 while he parked the vehicle within the vicinity of the office.

“I was officially invited to cover the proceedings of the APC State Congress as part of media coverage of the event. I attended the Congress venue at Next Level APC Secretariat, Bauchi with my vehicle, a Toyota Vibe, with Chassis Number: 5Y2SL62833Z408918 and Plate Number: BAU-100HB.

“The vehicle was parked within the vicinity of the venue between 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. while the congress was ongoing. Regrettably, due to the crowd that gathered at the Congress venue, some unknown individuals stole the vehicle,” he narrated.

The journalist formally reported the incident at the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of ‘A’ Division, Central Market.

“Despite these efforts and reports made to the relevant security authorities, there has so far been no information regarding the whereabouts of the vehicle,” he said.

Having informed the APC leadership of the loss, both verbally and black and white, the party has yet to sympathise or compensate the journalist.
