A governorship aspirant under the platform of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Bauchi State, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim has commended workers in the state for their doggedness, resilience and commitment to the development of the state.
Kashim, the immediate past Secretary to the Government of Bauchi, in a statement he personally issued on Friday, in commemoration of this year's Workers Day, said that workers’ unwavering commitment continues to sustain communities and drive the progress of the state.
Kashim said that amid economic challenges and difficult working conditions, the workers remained steadfast, demonstrating courage, discipline, and an enduring sense of duty.
“We acknowledge that the sacrifices you make are not always matched with the rewards and recognition you truly deserve,” he said.
He added that the workers, despite delayed entitlements, inadequate welfare packages, and limited opportunities for growth have weighed heavily on many of them. “This reality is neither acceptable nor sustainable. Workers deserve dignity, fair compensation, and an environment that enables them to thrive, not merely survive. Your labour is invaluable, and it must be treated as such.
“Under my administration, we are committed to restoring the dignity of labour and placing workers at the centre of governance. We will prioritise prompt payment of salaries and pensions, implement fair and realistic wage structures, invest in capacity building, and create a more supportive and efficient working environment.
“Our vision is clear: a motivated workforce, a revitalised civil service, and a future where every worker can look ahead with confidence and hope. Better days are not just a promise—they are a responsibility we are prepared to fulfil,” he said.
