Bauchi Gov Mourns Alhaji Shehu Yahaya Jalam, Describes Him As Dedicated Public Servant

The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has mourned the death of Alhaji Shehu Yahaya Jalam, the Permanent Secretary, Special Services, office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), who died in the early hours of Saturday, May 17, 2026, in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, after a brief illness while participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The governor said he received the news of the death with deep sorrow and sadness.

In a condolence message issued on Sunday by his media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, Governor Bala Mohammed described the late Alhaji Shehu Yahaya Jalam as a dedicated, loyal, and hardworking public servant who devoted his life to the service of Bauchi State and its people.

According to the governor, the deceased played vital roles in the successful coordination of previous Hajj operations and several other government assignments entrusted to him.

"His passing is a great loss not only to his family and colleagues, but also to the entire Bauchi State Government and the wider community who benefited from his commitment, humility, and strong sense of duty," the governor stated.

The statement added that the funeral prayer for the deceased would be conducted later on Sunday after the Zuhur prayer at the Holy Mosque of the Ka’aba in Makkah.

Governor Bala Mohammed, on behalf of the government and people of Bauchi State, extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, the Office of the Head of Civil Service, the Misau Emirate Council and Dambam Emirate Council, as well as friends, associates, and all those affected by the loss.

The governor prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family the strength and fortitude to bear the painful loss.
