Pressure is mounting on the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, to declare his interest in the Bauchi State governorship race and contest the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Various groups and individuals, coordinated by the Pate Youth Ambassadors Initiatives (PYI), have renewed calls on the minister to resign his current position and return to Bauchi State to pursue the governorship ambition.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Prince Mohammed Sani Hassan, Director General of PYI, said youths, women, elders, farmers, traders, and students across the state have expressed a strong desire to see Pate emerge as the next governor.
According to him, there is a growing consensus across communities in Bauchi that the state requires purposeful leadership, visionary governance, and a leader with a proven capacity to deliver meaningful development.
He noted that support for Pate is rooted in his track record of service, competence, integrity, and dedication to humanity, adding that the minister has distinguished himself both nationally and internationally in public service, policy reforms, and human capital development.
Hassan further stated that many young people see Pate as a symbol of hope, particularly in areas such as employment, quality education, skills acquisition, and innovation. He said his leadership could unlock the state’s potential and create opportunities for future generations.
He added that Pate is widely admired for his humility, simplicity, and compassion, describing him as a leader who understands the challenges faced by ordinary citizens, including farmers, traders, job seekers, and communities in need of basic infrastructure and security.
The PYI DG emphasized that supporters of the minister are committed to the peace, unity, and development of Bauchi State, noting that their advocacy reflects a broader desire for transformational leadership.
He also called on Bola Ahmed Tinubu to support Pate’s governorship ambition, arguing that his experience and popularity make him a strong candidate for the role.
According to him, political observers believe Pate has widespread grassroots acceptance and remains one of the most viable aspirants capable of securing victory for the APC in Bauchi State.
Hassan further claimed that the minister commands a strong youth support base across the state, which could be instrumental not only in winning the governorship election but also in mobilizing support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid.
He concluded that Pate’s leadership qualities, inclusive approach, and cordial relationships with stakeholders position him as a unifying figure capable of strengthening the APC and leading Bauchi State toward sustainable development.
