By Hassan Ibrahim

The member representing Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency, Hon Mansur Manu Soro, has offered to sponsor the tertiary education of Hamisu Ibrahim who scored 213 points in the just concluded 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The lawmaker further disclosed that the scholarship would be extended to other outstanding students of the Gifted schools who score 180 points and above during the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.

Manu Soro who made this known in a statement yesterday in Bauchi, expressed his happiness over the performance of Ibrahim, a student of Gifted School, Darazo saying, "We are considering a benchmark of 180 for my scholarship to all outstanding students to pursue their undergraduate studies."

The lawmaker had earlier paid the 2026 UTME to 141 students of the gifted schools and now directed the principals of the schools to submit the names of the outstanding students for their scholarship.

"By this notice, the management of the four Gifted Schools is requested to review the JAMB results of their graduating students and forward the details of those who meet the criteria for necessary action," he said.

He recalled that in 2021, his office established four Gifted Secondary Schools in Sade, Soro, Darazo, and Kafin Madaki, alongside a Special Primary School in Lanzai, as part of efforts to strengthen both primary and secondary education in the Darazo-Ganjuwa Federal Constituency.

According to him, tuition-free, merit-based schools provide students with complete learning materials annually and periodic stipends to support their welfare.

Manu Soro further disclosed that in 2025, he expanded his educational interventions to the tertiary level by facilitating the establishment of a National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) study centre in Soro, Darazo local government area.

The lawmaker noted that investment in education remains the most valuable investment any society can make. He also prayed for the continued success of students in their academic pursuits.
