The Bauchi State Government has flagged off free medical outreach for all health workers in its employment just as it gave a directive to ensure that they participate in the exercise in order to know their health status.
The State Commissioner of Health and Social Welfare, Dr Sani Mohammed Dambam, formally flagged off the free medical outreach for Health workers to mark the 2026 World Health Day.
The Commissioner stressed that the medical outreach was organised in order to enable the Health workers to know their health status as they provide care to clients.
According to him, "As frontline health workers, we need to know our health status in order to be able to perform our professional services to the people. We have to be efficient and effective."
He further stated that a Health worker who does not know his/her status, will not be able to discharge his/her responsibilities to the clients who need services.
Sani Mohammed Dambam added,"We in the Ministry have considered the importance of health checks by our workers, that was the reason we organised the outreach."
He assured that efforts will be made to ensure that every health worker in the State participates in the outreach anywhere they are working across the State.
According to him,"Knowing the importance of Health check, as a Ministry, we will institutionalize that, in the month of April every year, medical outreach will be organised for the health workers to check their health status."
