The Senator Shehu Buba Umar Contact and Mobilisation Committee 2027 has resolved to purchase the APC governorship primary nomination form for Senator Shehu Buba Umar.
"Today marks a significant moment in our collective political journey in our unwavering commitment to the process, unity and development of Bauchi state", the committee chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed Sade said.
Alh. Abubakar Mohammed Sade at a press conference in Bauchi on Monday, Mohammed explained that the committee comprising mostly retired public officers have unanimously resolved to support and present a credible, and competent candidate for the governorship of Bauchi state in the forthcoming elections.
Sade disclosed, "In furtherance of this resolve, we are pleased to formally inform the public that we have collectively rolled out the sum of fifty million naira (N50, 000, 000) for the purchase of governorship nomination form".
The committee chairman described the gesture as not financial but rather symbolic representing their total confidence in the leadership capacity of Senator Shehu Buba Umar, proven tract records, accessibility to the grassroots and unwavering dedication to the welfare of the common man.
Chairman Abubakar Sade also explained that the distinguished senator has over the years demonstrated exemplary leadership, legislative competence, and deep understanding of the challenges bedeviling Bauchi state.
"Our decision is also rooted in the need to reposition our dear state for sustainable development, economic growth, improved infrastructure, quality education, enhanced health service delivery and inclusive governance", Sade stated.
Also speaking, the Barr. Mukhtar Abubakar, the secretary of the committee, stated that the aspiring governorship senator is ready to support any other aspirant who subsequently emerges victorious in the primary elections.
"It is on record, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, at each point in time he couldn't make it, he shows his own support to whoever that won the election, so he will continue with this attitude of statesmanship and be loyal to the party", Mukhtar said.
Mukhtar said party stakeholders, having recognised the leadership qualities of Senator Shehu Buba, collectively contributed funds to purchase the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship nomination form for him ahead of the 2027 Bauchi State election.
APC had earlier announced April 25 as the commencement date for the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms for elective positions, with the governorship form pegged at N50 million.
The party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, clarified that the expression of interest form costs N10 million, while the nomination form is priced at N40 million.
