The Court of Appeal has dealt a major legal setback to Turaki and his supporters by dismissing their appeal against the Federal High Court judgment that nullified the controversial Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention held in Ibadan.

The appellate court, in a unanimous decision delivered by Justice Mohammed Ambi-Usi Danjuma and two other justices, upheld the earlier judgment and ordered the appellants to pay N2 million in costs.

The court ruled that the convention violated provisions of the PDP constitution and the Electoral Act.

It also stressed that political parties cannot shield unlawful processes under the guise of internal affairs when such actions contradict established legal and constitutional guidelines.

In a related development, the Court of Appeal also affirmed the suspension of some PDP ational officers, including Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Hon. Umar Bature, and Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN, thereby validating the disciplinary actions taken by the party’s National Working Committee.
