BWSO Launches To Drive Youth Leadership, Shape Bauchi's Next 50 Years Through Empowerment

By Khalid Idris Doya

The Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO) has been formally launched with a vision to promote leadership development, strengthen community engagement, and inspire ethical transformation across Bauchi State.

In a statement issued by the organisation's Chief Communication Officer, Abubakar Al-Sadique, the formation of BWSO reflects the conviction that sustainable development is not driven by infrastructure and policies alone, but by nurturing responsible and visionary leadership, particularly among young people who constitute the majority of the population.

He added that founded on the principles of integrity, service, inclusivity, and accountability, the organisation is designed as a platform to mobilise youths through structured training, mentorship, teamwork, and sustained civic engagement. Its long-term goal is to shape Bauchi State's progress over the next 50 years, beyond short-term political cycles.

"At its core, the organisation is committed to helping people, especially young people, find direction, balanced mentorship, and equal opportunities," the statement noted.

He further said the organisation aims to awaken self-belief and shared responsibility, emphasising that genuine development begins from within communities by fostering confidence, civic responsibility, and volunteerism, BWSO seeks to build a strong sense of ownership among citizens regarding the future of their state.

Dr. Bala Maijama’a Wunti described the initiative as "A movement of purpose where citizens, especially younger people and organisations, can channel their passion into something meaningful, where service replaces sentiment, and competence stands taller than connections."

He stressed the organisation's commitment to merit, collaboration, and principled leadership.

"In an environment often shaped by division and personal interests, BWSO aspires to model an alternative culture anchored on shared values, professionalism, and competence. It maintains that the true strength of Bauchi State lies not only in its geography or natural resources, but in the resilience, creativity, character, and leadership capacity of its people," the statement said.

"Built on the belief that meaningful change begins at the grassroots, the organisation will focus on organising neighbourhood groups, identifying local talents, nurturing innovative ideas, and establishing support systems that enable citizens to uplift one another.

"Planned activities include town-hall meetings, leadership workshops, skills acquisition programmes, volunteer-driven projects, and structured civic engagements aimed at fostering unity across diverse social groups," Al-Sadique noted.

Recognising the need for inclusivity, BWSO identifies persons with disabilities, women, young professionals, artisans, students, entrepreneurs, and grassroots leaders as key stakeholders in its mission to bridge generational and professional divides while strengthening social cohesion.

With operational offices established in all 20 local government areas of Bauchi State, the organisation says it is positioned to ensure grassroots accessibility and responsiveness to local needs. It is led by Chief Executive Officer Alhaji Muktar Ahmad Jarmajo, supported by Chief Coordinating Officer Alhaji Sha’abdin Zalanga, Chief Finance Officer Dr Umar Dauda, Chief Operating Officer Alhaji Ladan Salihu Kangere, and Chief Communication Officer Abubakar Al-Sadique.

The statement added that as Bauchi State looks toward the future, the Bala Wunti Support Organisation presents itself as a platform for constructive engagement, purposeful mobilisation, and generational renewal.

He further said the organisation has officially commenced operations statewide and reaffirmed its commitment to translating its vision into measurable impact over the next five decades, empowering youth, strengthening communities, and fostering sustainable development.
