The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bauchi State Chapter, has accused some of the party members of attempting to cause division in the state while dismissing the report of the removal of the state chairman.
The State Chairperson of the party, Hon. Hassan Haruna explained that he was aware that some of the members who were expelled and suspended from ADC have been contracted to fragment the party. He said that they have opened a factional office while flaunting their own “illegal” leader.
According to Haruna, those aggrieved and suspended members were involved in questionable acts and faced the sanctions. “They don't have legal support to create such fractions. About two months ago, we teamed up as a disciplinary committee of which they don't have the right to do. They failed.
“We are aware that they are working with some elected officials of some other parties and we won't allow them. They said my offence was conniving with non-members of ADC, and I told them that this is a coalition party –everyone is free to come.”
Haruna said that the party provided a constitutional process in removing the sitting chairman and has not been followed. He said that all the 20 local government chairpersons are loyal to him and ready to move the party forward.
The Party said that the action of the “impostors” is nothing but a desperate attempt to destabilise the growing strength, popularity and the unity of the Party in Bauchi State. “Their conduct is condemnable, alien to the values and principles of our great Party. Their action is a clear testimony that they are just paid agents, settled to destabilise the party.”
ADC urged its party faithful and the public to disregard the statements, publications and rhetoric of the “self-acclaimed impostors”, saying that they do not represent the Party in Bauchi State.
“Our supporters should remain focused, vigilant and be loyal to the Party constitution and current leadership at both the State and national levels while all the necessary steps are being taken to address this act of impersonation, gross indiscipline and misconduct through the appropriate Party channels.
“We want to assure our party members that we remain focused, united and committed to building a strong and viable political platform anchored on justice, internal democracy and credible leadership in line with the vision of the party at the national level.”
