Bauchi doctors, health workers get 100 percent salaries increments

By Samuel Luka

The Bauchi State Executive Council has approved a 100 percent upward review of salaries for medical and healthcare workers across the state, with particular attention on those serving in rural areas, particularly Hard-to-Reach villages.

Commissioner of Health and Social Welfare, Dr Sani Dambam, announced this while speaking to journalists after the extraordinary meeting of the State Executive Council (SEC), held over the weekend.

Dambam said the move is aimed to bring their salaries in line with their federal government counterparts.

The commissioner explained that the approval also covers outstanding promotions, payments, and biometric attendance verification for over 2,000 healthcare workers in the state, adding that the government will also provide car and housing loans to motivate the healthcare workers.

Dambam said that the salary increment would be complemented by the introduction of special allowances for health workers posted outside local government headquarters across the State

He said the SEC also approved the procurement of medical equipment for the new Government House clinic, aiming to improve services for staff and visitors.

He emphasized that the measure would boost healthcare delivery in Bauchi State and motivate workers to remain in the civil service.
