The President of the Bauchi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture (BACCIMA), Alhaji Aminu Mohammed Danmalikin Bauchi, has urged the Federal Government to ensure its planned tax reforms have a human face, considering the potential impact on citizens' lives.
Speaking to reporters recently, Danmaliki expressed concerns that the proposed tax regime lacks a human face and may negatively affect Nigerians, particularly in the North, if implemented as presented.
He emphasized that the chamber will advocate to protect the public against any aggressive government policy that affects individual lives.
"We will go to every length to make sure the public is protected," Danmaliki said, urging the government to reconsider the tax reforms and listen to concerns from stakeholders.
Commenting on the last economic and investment summit organized by the state government, Danmaliki said the chamber is committed to providing inputs on economic matters as partners in development.
He noted that the chamber is working to overcome challenges and limitations, seeking collaborations to sustain itself.
"The chamber is working with the state government to improve collaboration between the public and private sectors", the president of the chambers said.
Danmaliki praised the investment summit as successful, with investors pledging billions of Naira, and expressed confidence that the ministry of commerce will follow up on the pledges.
