People of Tumu/Narabi community in Toro LGA of Bauchi State have appealed for the upgrade of the traditional institution of the area following the creation of new Emirates and Districts across the State.
In a letter of appeal addressed to the relevant authorities in the State, the community through one Sani Isah Narabi, wrote that, "We respectfully submit this appeal for your consideration in upgrading the status of the Tumu/Narabi traditional council to that of District Head for Narabi/Tumu."
According to the letter titled: "Request for Consideration of Tumu/Narabi Traditional Council Upgrade", the community stated that, "This request is motivated by several compelling factors that underscore the necessity of this elevation."
According to the letter, "The Tumu/Narabi area has experienced significant population growth due to the continuous influx of migrants from surrounding States, particularly Plateau."
It added that, "The Narabi axis has become a primary settlement area for these individuals, resulting in increased demands for governance and security. Elevating the Tumu/Narabi traditional council to District Head will enhance the capacity to manage this growing population effectively while ensuring the safety and stability of the entire local government area.
"Additionally, we recognize the commendable contributions made by the current Maigunduman of Tumu/Narabi, Alhaji Usman Idris. His exemplary leadership and commitment to maintaining law and order within his jurisdiction are well documented. We firmly believe that elevating him to the position of District Head would further empower him to implement strategies that promote peace and enhance community welfare," The community added.
Furthermore, it stated that,"Alhaji Usman Idris is widely acknowledged for his benevolence, generosity, and empathy; attributes that resonate across the community, including those who may hold differing opinions. His proven track record assures us that under his stewardship as District Head, the government and the local populace will benefit significantly."
The community also stated that, "We earnestly implore the relevant authorities to consider this urgent request for the elevation of the Tumu/Narabi traditional council to District Head, in recognition of the historical significance and evolving needs of our community."
The letter was addressed to the Executive Governor of Bauchi State and copied to the Executive Chairperson of Toro Local Government Council, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Alhaji Umar Adamu Toro, the First Emir of Toro.
