In Bauchi State, more than 500 Persons With Disabilities have received food and non-food items donated by the North East Development Commission (NDEC) in collaboration with the State Agency for People with Disabilities.

The distribution exercise, which took place in Bauchi, aimed at providing relief to victims of the 2025 flooding that affected several Persons with Disabilities across the state.

Executive Secretary of the Agency, Brisca Joram Aaron, said the relief items were provided by the Commission as part of its humanitarian support to vulnerable groups in the region.

She commended the Commission for its sustained partnership and thanked Governor Bala Mohammed for his commitment to inclusivity. Aaron disclosed that the governor has directed that employable Persons with Disabilities be given priority in the planned recruitment of 10,000 civil servants in the state.

In a goodwill message, the Head of Service, Barrister Muhammad Sani Umar, described the gesture as heartwarming, praising the Agency for its transparent distribution process. He urged the beneficiaries to embrace education and vocational training to become self-reliant.

Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Federal and State Governments, the NEDC, and the State Agency for their continued support.

The event was also spiced with musical performances by local PWD singers who entertained guests with songs of appreciation dedicated to the NEDC and the Bauchi State Government.
