RDM pledges improved, modernized rail services

By Ahmed Ahmed

The District Railway Manager (RDM) of the North Eastern District Bauchi, Mr. Marcellinus Zirra has pledged improved service and modernization to improve transportation needs in the region.

This is contained in a statement signed by the District Public Relations Officer (DPRO), Mrs. Sefrem Felix Feson made available to newsmen on Saturday in Bauchi. The statement said the new RDM has embarked on a familiarisation tour of Bajoga (Ashaka) Railway Station and the Gombe Railway Depot Station.

The visit was part of ongoing efforts by the Railway District Office to boost operational oversight and address challenges affecting railway services in the region.

During the tour, Mr. Zirra and his team inspected key facilities, interacted with staff, and assessed the current operational capacity of the stations.

He emphasized the importance of punctuality, safety, and effective coordination in the daily management of railway services.

“The administration is committed to ensuring that all stations under the district’s supervision receive the attention needed to improve infrastructure and service quality.

“We are determined to restore the glory of the railway system and provide passengers with reliable, efficient, and safe transportation,”Zirra said.

At the Bajoga Station, the visit provided an opportunity to identify critical challenges and explore practical solutions that would contribute to the modernization of the railway system within the district.

“Community members and railway workers expressed optimism that the renewed focus would bring lasting improvements to the region’s transportation network.

In Gombe, the RDM reiterated that the visit was a step toward building a stronger transport system that meets the needs of passengers and surrounding communities.

Accompanied by the Property Manager, Mr. Alfa Yakubu, he pledged to intensify efforts toward operational reforms and service enhancement.

The familiarisation tour reflects a broader commitment by the Railway District Office to not only improve facilities but also to ensure that the railway system plays a vital role in regional development.

“With increasing demand for reliable transport, stakeholders are hopeful that these efforts will transform railway operations, making them more efficient and responsive to the needs of the people.
