The Senior Special Assistant on Security to Bauchi State Governor, Dr. Babayo Liman, has cautioned hoteliers in the state against serving as safe havens for underaged youths and activities that promote moral decadence.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting convened by the Hisbah Command of the State Shari’ah Commission, Dr. Liman urged hotel operators to partner with the Command in sanitizing the hospitality sector.
He expressed concern over the growing trend of minors gaining access to hotels for parties, gala nights, social media content creation, and other gatherings that bring together young boys and girls in ways that undermine societal values.
“Bauchi State will not fold its arms and allow our youths to mortgage their future in the name of modern living. This state is built on strong moral foundations rooted in our religious and cultural values. We will not permit the kind of obscenities being promoted on social media from other states to take root here,” Dr. Liman declared.
While commending the Hisbah Command for convening the engagement, he stressed the need for continuous dialogue with stakeholders to preserve order and decency in the state.
Dr. Liman further warned that any hotel found harbouring underaged guests or criminal elements will face the full wrath of the law governing hospitality businesses.
He concluded by appreciating Governor Bala Mohammed for creating a safe, secure, and enabling environment that supports the growth and sustainability of businesses across Bauchi State.
