Bogoro Communities Hail Gov. Bala Mohammed Over Road Development Projects

By Khalid Idris Doya

Bogoro Local Government Council in Bauchi State has commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for completing two major road projects in the area, describing them as life-changing interventions that have eased transportation and boosted economic activities.

The completed projects include the 11.2-kilometre Boi–Tapshin road and the 11-kilometre Malar–Lusa–Bogoro road. Residents also appreciated the governor for the financial support that facilitated the successful execution of other township projects, including the Interdenominational Church in Bogoro.

Project Supervising Engineer, Engr. Ado Shehu, while briefing the State Facility Tour team led by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Shehu Usman, disclosed that the contracts, awarded in 2020, were delivered within the stipulated timeframe. He added that the Tapshin Bridge was elevated to withstand heavy water flow, thereby tackling perennial flooding challenges in the area.

Residents such as Istifanus Barde from Tapshin and Astra John from Boi recounted the hardship they faced before the road construction, especially during the rainy season when floods disrupted trade and farming.

The team also inspected the ongoing Boi–Gambar–Lere road, initially designed at 29 kilometres in 2024 but extended to over 35 kilometres after realignment. With 48 percent of the work completed, three bridges have been delivered, two are under construction, and more than 40 culverts installed. Shehu further revealed that an additional two-span bridge at Zakam was incorporated into the project at the request of the community, with the governor’s approval and funding.

Local leaders expressed gratitude to the state government, noting that the new roads have transformed movement and enhanced trade. Councillor of Gambar Ward, Hon. Paulmi Bulus Datsir, described the projects as a catalyst for economic growth but appealed for speedy completion of the Boi–Gambar–Lere road to reduce rainy season challenges.

At the Bogoro Local Government Secretariat, the inspection team was received by Chairman Hon. Lawi Yakubu Tsumi, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing ongoing projects across Bauchi State. Commissioner Usman Shehu Usman emphasized that the inspection was aimed at assessing the progress of key infrastructure projects in the area.
