The Zaar Traditional Council of Chiefs has condemned recent violent attacks in Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Local Government Areas of Bauchi State, which claimed one life and left three others injured.
In a press statement issued on Friday, August 29, 2025, the Council, speaking through its Secretary, Timothy M. Bitson, on behalf of His Royal Majesty, Gungzaar-elect Ishaku Komo (Rtd.), described the incidents as tragic and unacceptable.
The Council cited the killing of Mr. Irmiya Yohanna on his farm in Bogoro and the grievous assault in Tafawa Balewa, which left three youths hospitalized, as fresh reminders of the security challenges bedeviling the area.
“An injury to one Zaar son or daughter is indeed an injury to us all,” the Council declared, extending condolences to the bereaved family and solidarity to survivors.
His Royal Majesty urged chiefs, elders, and community leaders to remain steadfast in championing peace, while cautioning Zaar youths against retaliation and urging full cooperation with security agencies.
The Council also appealed to Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, to work directly with traditional leaders to strengthen community security. It warned against politicizing security matters, stressing that protecting human life must remain above partisan interests.
Reiterating its commitment to dialogue, the Gung Zaar Council pledged to continue engaging Fulani leaders and other neighboring communities in reconciliation efforts aimed at restoring peace and harmony across the kingdom.
“May peace and justice prevail in the Zaar Kingdom and Bauchi State at large,” the statement concluded.
