Bauchi Rotary club reiterates commitment to humanitarian support, service

Rotary Club of Bauchi Central has reiterated its commitment to humanitarian services as a way of supporting the government in its developmental efforts.

This was said by the President of the Club, Rotarian Adeyemi Adekunle, during the unveiling of asignpost erected in Miri Community along the Bauchi - Jos Federal highway. 

According to him, "Since we started the Rotary Club in Bauchi, we realized that people are not much aware that the Rotary Club exists in Bauchi. So we need to mount signposts to signify that the Rotary Club exists in Bauchi. In fact, this is our first Rotary Public TV in Bauchi." 

He added that, "This is the first signpost project we are commissioning in Bauchi. And we have four other signposts to commission. They are Jos Road, Gombe Road, Maiduguri Bypass, and Kano Road." 

The President further said that, "We still have other signposts to commission. This is the first one. Just to create awareness that Rotary Club exists in Bauchi to increase our members.

He also stated that it will be an avenue for membership drive stressing that, "We need more members to enable us to have more funds to serve humanity in the areas of health and education."

The Club President further stressed that Rotary Club International has a seat at the UN General Assembly because of the enormous humanitarian work it is doing across the world.

He assured that the Club will soon visit the Secondary school in Miri to donate more reusable sanitary pads to the female students as well as give them talks on how to live a life of cleanliness during their monthly flow. 

According to him, "The Rotary Club of Bauchi Central is contributing to family health as well as Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services for healthy living. 

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the District Head of Miri, Alh Hussaini Abubakar, commended Rotary Club of Bauchi Central for embarking on people oriented development projects especially in the health and education sectors, thereby improving living conditions of the people. 

Represented by the Sarkin Malaman Miri, Alhaji Sunusi Abubakar, the traditional ruler appreciated the Rotary Club for the various project interventions in Miri community. 

He specifically commended the provision of toilets to the Secondary School there as well as the donation of reusable sanitary pads to female students of the school. 

The District Head assured that the community will continue to support Rotary Club of Bauchi Central in its humanitarian services urging for more support and intervention. 

In his remarks, the President of Rotary Club of Bauchi Central, Rotarian Adeyemi Adekunle, explained that the signpost, which is the first of such, was aimed at announcing the presence of the Club in Bauchi. 

He disclosed that the signpost will be erected at all the entrances into Bauchi, from Jos, Kano, Maiduguri and Gombe to enable the people be aware of the existence of the Club in Bauchi.
