Lawmaker empowers 45 youth with vocational skills, tools in Bauchi

The Member representing Bogoro, Dass, and Tafawa Balewa Federal Constituency in Bauchi State, Hon. Jafaru Gambo Leko, has trained 45 youth in vocational skills including shoemaking, bag production, and cattle rearing.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the participants on Tuesday in Bauchi, Leko emphasised that vocational skills is key to empowerment and entrepreneurship 

Leko, represented by Mr Yau Soja , his Senior Legislative Aides (SLA) said the three-month training program was capped with the distribution of essential working tools such as sewing machines and other accessories to the beneficiaries. 

He emphasised that the initiative was aimed at equipping unemployed youth in the constituency with practical skills that would not only help them become self-reliant but also employers of labour.

Leko strongly detests idleness, youth thuggery, and other social vices. That is why we remained committed to youth empowerment and capacity building across the constituency.

Also speaking, Alhaji Bello Musa, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, commended Hon. Leko for his continued interventions in various sectors including agriculture, employment, healthcare, and water supply.

"His efforts have brought meaningful development to our communities," Musa noted.

Musa noted that the program marks another step in Hon. Leko’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development and youth engagement in his constituency.

Miss Lydia Kefas, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed deep appreciation to Leko for the life-changing opportunity.

She assured that the training and equipment would not be misused and pledged to extend the knowledge by training others.
