Foundation Trains Gombe Women On Business, Financial Literacy

By Najib Sani, Gombe

A non governmental organisation 'Aziza Development Foundation' in partnership with 'Advocacy for Children's Right Initiative' has recently conducted a training for selected women in Gombe State on business and financial literacy.

The executive director of Advocacy for Children's Right Initiative, Martha Daniel, explained that the initiative aims to address the significant challenges faced by women-owned businesses in Nigeria, which are attributable to lack of requisite structures, knowledge on regulatory compliance principles, and business policies.

According to her, despite women making up 49.3% of Nigeria's population, they still face substantial economic and social setbacks

"Many women in this sector remain poor due to poor financial management, inadequate record-keeping, budgeting, visibility, and risk management. The Aziza Development Foundation aims to bridge this gap by providing business and financial literacy training", she said.

Martha added that by empowering women with the necessary skills and knowledge, the Aziza Development Foundation hopes to enhance their businesses' profitability and sustainability.

In addition to that, she opined that the initiative has the potential to increase women's contributions to the nation's GDP and improve their overall economic well-being.

Our correspondent reports that the training facilitated by experts covered essential topics such as; financial literacy, record-keeping, budgeting, among others.
