The Senator representing Bauchi South, Shehu Umar Buba has debunked the report of claiming that he was booed by his constituents in Toro local government area.
Buba’s Aide, Ibrahim Ori in a statement on behalf of his principal, said that Buba’s attention was drawn to a media report that he was booed by Toro youths for neglecting them. He described the report as false and baseless.
Ori said “we would have ignored the report because even the writer wrote the story on alleged, alleged and alleged. It is s not fair how can he have alleged alleged in almost all the paragraphs in his story, I believe professionally in the interest of justice where a reporter is not 100 percent sure of a story he should drop it,
We don't know the motive behind writing a story based on false speculation and mischief. But to set the record straight, Shehu Buba visited Toro peacefully, he paid a condolence visit and donated N65,000,000,00 to his people in Toro.
N50 million for Mosque building, N5 Million for the family of the deceased , N5 Million for elders and five million for youths. He finished his visit peacefully, we don’t know anything booing during the visit, if anything happened after he left should not be linked to him.
He Said “the central role of journalists in national development is integrity, truth, and objectivity which every professional journalist follows up to guide their work, particularly at a time when the country grapples with security and socio economic challenges.
“We know journalists have a vital role to play. Through responsible reporting and constructive storytelling, we can help shape public understanding, promote social cohesion, and contribute to the ongoing efforts to build a more secure and united nation, not through mischievous writeup.
“But it's unfortunate when people are just conjuring this story to give flavour to their malice and hate campaign.”
Ori said Shehu Buba remains committed to due process and transparency in all legislative affairs and to give the people of Bauchi South Senatorial district and the entire Bauchi State are good representation.
