Gombe Remains Peaceful As Nationwide Protests Conclude

By Najib Sani, Gombe

Contrary to expectations, Gombe State did not witness a one million man match or protest on Saturday, marking the end of the nationwide demonstrations against bad governance.

The city remained calm, with no reports of processions or gatherings.

However, recall that on August 1, protests in Gombe turned violent, resulting in injuries to police officers and other security agents. The unrest also led to the destruction of several properties, including the popular Bima Lodge, Gombe State Bureau of Public Service Reform, Kumbiya-kumbiya hospital, and a motors retail outlet.

Since then, the state has experienced no further protests or unrest, with Saturday's conclusion day of the nationwide demonstrations coming as a relief to residents and authorities alike.

The police and other security agencies have maintained a visible presence, ensuring the safety of citizens and preventing any potential disturbances.

Our correspondent reports that since after the violent protest on August 1st, Gombe State has returned to normalcy, with residents going about their daily activities without hindrance.
