Bala Adamu Ibrahim has explained that his decision to withdraw as running mate to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, was voluntary and not influenced by any person or group.
Ibrahim disclosed this in a withdrawal letter dated August 5, 2026, addressed to the National Chairman of the party.
In the letter titled, “Voluntary Withdrawal from Participation in the 2027 General Election under the Platform of Allied Peoples Movement (APM),” Ibrahim formally notified the party of his decision to quit the 2027 electoral process.
He said he no longer wished to participate in the party’s nomination process or remain its vice-presidential candidate.
“I hereby formally notify the party of my voluntary withdrawal from the electoral process,” he stated.
Ibrahim further requested the APM to remove his name from its records and said he had attached an affidavit sworn to in accordance with Section 31 of the Electoral Act, 2026.
He thanked the party’s leadership and members for the confidence reposed in him and wished the party success in the forthcoming elections.
The withdrawal followed the emergence of Lawal Musa, former Director-General of the DSS, as Makinde’s new running mate.
Makinde announced Musa at the APM elective national convention held in Bauchi last Thursday, where the party also took key decisions ahead of the 2027 general elections
