Bauchi to rebuild vandalised Council Secretariat, ex-deputy gov’s house, others

By Rauf Oyewole

The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has pledged to rebuild the looted and razed Katagum local government Secretariat, Azare, home of the immediate past deputy governor, Baba Tela and the Government Lodge that were vandalised last Monday.

Mohammed said this on Thursday when he visited Azare to assess the level of damage caused by the hoodlums who hijacked the #EndBadGovernance projects. He said that half of the Secretariat was set ablaze while other parts were looted including the Information and Communication Technology department where salary is being processed.

Mohammed said that the government would go to drawing board to redesign the facility which is the seat of administration and the second biggest council in the state. He pledged to declare a state of emergency in rebuilding the council secretariat.

He pledged to support the ex-deputy governor, Baba Tela and another Islamiya school that was vandalised.

The governor enjoined the perpetrators of the incident to heed the warning of the government, saying they hurt the people and themselves and not the government.

Mohammed visited the Emir of Katagum, Alh Umar Farouq II where he expressed concerns about government’s failure to cater for the need of the youths, saying the government has heeded the warning of teeming youths.
