The Abdul Samad Rabiu (ASR) Africa Initiative of the BUA Group has laid the foundation for the construction of a 30-bed hospital at the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) Federal Operations Unit Zone D Headquarters in Bauchi.

While speaking in Bauchi during a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the ASR Africa, Dr. Ubon Udoh said that the intervention was done in partnership with the Customs under its Security Sector Support Grant.

Udoh said that under the last administration, the ASR Africa donated N10 billion to support security agencies in the Country. He added part of the amount, N500m was allocated to NCS while the Service decided to build the facility.

Meanwhile, the Comptroller General (GG) of the Nigerian Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi lauded the ASR Initiative for counting the Service worthy of the intervention.

He said that the facility would serve both the operatives of the Service and the host communities. “Quality health care is one of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 agenda and also a priority area of the President Bola Tinubu administration. We are happy to associate with the project.

“This is going to have direct impacts on the officers and men of the NCS and the host communities.”
