The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Bauchi State Chapter has declared that it would not compromise in its stance on minimum wage and other demands with the government.
The Acting Chairman of the NLC in Bauchi, Ibrahim Maikudi made this known while addressing journalists on Monday, said the exercise has received needed compliance from both public and private sectors.
According to him, "the Union knows its stand, our stand is well known, so we've our own reasons, not only reason, but reasonable and scientific reasons to defend our stands.
“Why are we compromising? Even yesterday the Senate President, the Speaker and some ministers with SGF invited the Labour leaders, so if there's an issue of compromise, I'm sure they would have compromised yesterday, therefore, nothing like compromise in the Labour struggle.
Maikudi who doubles as the chairman of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JPSNC) said that there are some MDAs who open offices this morning due to the delay in the circulation of the letters, but our monitoring team have gone round and ensured compliance.
He used the medium to advise the civil servants to key into entrepreneurship development skills with a view to become self-reliant by not depending on the government.
Also speaking, Umar Tafida Trade Union Congress (TUC) said "we want the workers, Nigerians that they should bear with us, we know this thing might bring a little pain for them. If we're able to succeed, everybody is going to enjoy it, so please they should bear with us, we understand their plights and predicaments and God's willingness we're going to be victorious.
The strike has paralysed some activities in both public and private sectors including government offices, schools and banks, while securities agencies, market places are open for businesses.
