Bauchi subscribes to open government, shares experience with Kano

The Bauchi State Open Government Partnership (OGP) Group has subscribed to ensuring transparency and making the government accountable to its citizens, just as the group shares experience with the Kano OGP group for good governance.

The experience includes an e-procurement model, open government, accountability and transparency where contracts are published online and open to citizens.

The delegation was led by the two co-chairs, Hon. Commissioner Ministry of Budget Planning & Donor Coordination Alh Aminu Hammayo and Garba, the Co-Chair Non-State Actors (NSA), Hajiya Maryam.

Hammayyo was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Head of Civil Service, Barr. Muhammad Sani Umar.

He said the Bauchi OGP Technical Working groups recently embarked on a learning field trip to Kano, for the purpose of drawing key lessons from Kano's experience on the implementation of OGP activities. 

“Kano State joined the OGP in 2018, Bauchi State joined the OGP Family in 2019 and subsequently witnessed it's official launching and inauguration of the steering committee and technical working groups by His Excellency, Senator Bala Mohammed. 

“The  State Executive Governor in 2022. The first State Action Plan (SAP1) (2023-2025 ) was launched in 2023. The visit seeks to enhance the processes of the SAP1 implementation by learning from its more experienced counterpart,” Hammayyo Said.

According to him, during the visit, both states teams engaged in fruitful discussions and experience sharing. "We appreciate the Kano State team for their positive insights. 

“We also understand that we are on the same page and moving in the same direction, with only a few differences from our sister OGP Technical Working Committee in Kano," said 

The team was warmly received by the Kano OGP Steering team headed by Abdulrazak Abdullahi Alkali, Co-Chair of Non State Actors  in Kano, along with his counterparts from the state and non state actors including the Permanent Secretary, Servicom,  Kano State Office of the Head of Civil Service.
