In less than 48 hours, another resident of Bauchi State in Toro Local Government Area, Hassan Mohammed has been shot dead by a 25-year-old Jabir Yusuf with a locally fabricated firearm, Police authority said on Tuesday.
The Command's Spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib said that they arrested Jabir of Rinjin Gura village, Zalau Ward, Toro Local Government Area, for allegedly shooting and killing Hassan of the same village.
According to Nafiu, Police investigation showed that the suspect allegedly discharged a dane gun and shot the victim on the neck, thereby causing fatal injuries.
“The victim was evacuated to Toro General Hospital for urgent medical attention, where he was confirmed dead by the medical doctor. Consequently, the corpse was profiled and released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
“The suspect has been apprehended and the dane gun recovered as exhibit. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for discreet investigation and possible prosecution,” he added.
Recall that a 13-year-old boy, Mubarak Mohammed has died after allegedly pulling the trigger of a loaded dane gun in Udubo village,Gamawa Local Government Area of the State.
Police said the tragic incident occurred on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at about 4:30pm, when the teenager reportedly entered the room of a 35-year-old hunter, Suleiman Hamza, after the latter returned from hunting.
