The Bauchi State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) has called for greater investment in tourism, culture and creative industries as part of efforts to diversify the state’s economy and create employment opportunities for young people.
The Managing Director and State Conservator General of the corporation, Dr Muh’d Nasiru Yusuf, made the call while presenting a paper at the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 48, 2026, of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.
The presentation, which formed part of the institute’s Local Study Tour to Bauchi State, was titled “Conceptual and Theoretical Perspectives on the Orange Economy and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Growth in Bauchi State.”
Yusuf said Bauchi could derive greater economic benefits from its rich tourism and cultural assets by strengthening entrepreneurship and developing the creative sector.
He noted that the Orange Economy offered opportunities to promote innovation, generate jobs and support sustainable livelihoods, particularly among young people.
According to him, the BSTDC is pursuing initiatives aimed at repositioning Bauchi as a major tourism destination while creating an environment capable of attracting investment and encouraging tourism-related businesses.
Yusuf’s presentation was followed by an Award of Recognition from the NIPSS management in appreciation of the BSTDC’s contributions and hospitality during the study tour.
The Corporation’s management team also visited Yankari Game Reserve, where it received former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan during his visit to the tourist destination.
Yusuf said the BSTDC would continue to promote tourism, culture and entrepreneurship as tools for economic diversification and sustainable development in Bauchi State.
