Mohammed bids farewell to 2,090 Bauchi pilgrims for Hajj 2026, pledges full govt's support

Governor Bala Mohammed on Wednesday bade farewell to 2,090 intending pilgrims from Bauchi State as they get set for departure to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj, pledging comprehensive welfare arrangements for a smooth exercise.

Addressing the intending pilgrims at Bauchi Hajj Camp, the governor described the pilgrimage as a divine invitation and a sacred obligation that embodies purification, renewal, and unity for the Muslim ummah

The governor congratulated the pilgrims for being selected to fulfill one of Islam’s five pillars.

Bala Mohammed said the first batch were expected to fly from Bauchi to Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina, adding that health officials confirmed that all pilgrims received required meningitis and yellow fever vaccinations ahead of travel to Saudi Arabia.

He said, to safeguard their wellbeing, the state government has deployed medical personnel to the camp, airport, and Saudi Arabia, and that pilgrims would receive two meals daily, accommodation within reasonable distance of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, and standard items including blankets and prayer mats.

The operation is being supervised by the Emir of Misau, who serves as Amirul Hajj, alongside the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, preachers, and guides.

The governor who advised the intending Pilgrims to cooperate with officials to maintain order, said since 2019, his administration has prioritized dignity and organization of Hajj operations.

According to him, a modern pilgrims’ camp with capacity for thousands has been built, while Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport has undergone upgrades to meet international standards for overseas flights.

Governor Mohammed reiterated the government’s commitment to making the pilgrimage spiritually rewarding and comfortable.
