Senator Halliru Dauda Jika has emerged as the sole governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The affirmation exercise, witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), also confirmed other candidates of the party for senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly positions.

Speaking during the affirmation Friday in Bauchi, chairman of the ADC Electoral Committee for the House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and Governorship primaries, General Ishaya Bauka (retired), said the committee was constituted to ensure due process in the emergence of candidates, particularly the affirmation of Halliru Jika as the party's governorship candidate.

He disclosed that the party's three senatorial candidates also emerged unopposed and were consequently affirmed by the party.

In his acceptance speech, Senator Halliru Dauda Jika expressed appreciation to party stakeholders and supporters for the confidence reposed in him.

He said the party leadership and critical stakeholders were fully committed to ensuring that the ADC takes over Bauchi State in 2027.

"By the grace of God, from 2027, Bauchi State will become an ADC state from top to bottom and from bottom to top," he declared.

"I am a proud candidate backed by a formidable team of dedicated supporters and leaders. I can confidently say that no other contestant has the kind of united and committed team standing behind me today," he added.

Halliru Jika, who represented Bauchi Central Senatorial District between 2019 and 2023, contested the 2023 governorship election under the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). He is now seeking another opportunity to govern the state under the ADC platform in 2027.

Also speaking, the Bauchi State Chairman of the ADC, Alhaji Shu’aibu Abdullahi Dankama, expressed confidence that the party would record major success in the 2027 general elections.

He said the party had presented credible candidates for the governorship, Senate and other elective positions, assuring supporters that members would work tirelessly to secure victory at the polls.

Dankama explained that party stakeholders unanimously agreed to support Halliru Jika as the governorship candidate because of the party's determination to win Bauchi State in 2027.

He also described the senatorial candidates and other flagbearers of the party as experienced and capable politicians who would strengthen the ADC's chances in the elections.

Among those affirmed by the party were Hon. Garba Dahiru Salanke as the ADC candidate for Bauchi South Senatorial District, Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi for Bauchi Central Senatorial District (serving senator), and Senator Nazif Gamawa for Bauchi North Senatorial District.

The party equally affirmed its candidates for the House of Representatives and Bauchi State House of Assembly seats ahead of the 2027 elections.
