Consult us before defection, IPAC tells Bala Mohammed

By Danladi Monday

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Nigeria, has called on Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, to engage with the council as he concludes arrangements to leave the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for another political platform.

IPAC noted that such liaison is necessary to enable it to provide input that could assist the governor in making an informed decision regarding his next political move.

The Bauchi State leadership of IPAC made the call while addressing journalists on Wednesday, where it also welcomed the governor’s decision to consider leaving the PDP, citing what it described as the irreconcilable crisis within the party.

The council added that, as a coordinator of political activities in the country, it is prepared to take the lead in facilitating the process of the governor’s transition to another political party.

The Chairman of IPAC in Bauchi State, Hon. Auwal Isa, stressed that Bala Mohammed has the constitutional right to associate with any political party of his choice in order to effectively participate in political activities.

He said, “We are aware that many political parties are courting him. They want him in their fold because of his political relevance, not only in Bauchi State but across Nigeria. Wherever he goes, that platform will undoubtedly witness increased political activities.”

Isa further stated, “We are ready to take the lead in advising him appropriately on which political party to join. However, if he has already made a decision, we are equally ready to guide and support him in that direction.”

IPAC also urged the governor to ensure that any step he takes is in the overall interest of Bauchi State and the country at large.
