Gov Mohammed, VC charge graduating students on job creation


..216 students bag first class in Bauchi

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed and the Vice Chancellor of the Sa'adu Zungur University, Gadau (SAZU) have charged the graduating students on job creation, saying the era of job seeking had passed.

Mohammed, while delivering his keynote address at the 8th, 9th and 10th combined convocation of the University on Saturday, that academic qualification does not guarantee successful but opportunity to contribute to development of humanity.

The Governor warned against sexual harassment, intimidation, drug abuse and exploitation, pledging that anyone found guilty would be dealt with according to the law. 

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Fatima Tahir said that the Institution convocated over 12,256 students with 216 of the graduands bagging first class.

Tahir, explained a total of 11,813 undergraduate students are graduating, with of them, 8,387 (71.00%) males and 3,426 (29.00%) females. 

“Among them, 216 (1.83%) are with first class honours 3,438 (29.10%). Second class honour upper, 5,563 (47.09%). Second class honours lower, 2,353 (19.92%). Third class honours and 243 (2.06%) with Pass. This number comprises both regular (10,702) and part-time (1,111) students. 

“At the postgraduate level, there are 443 graduands, with 4 (0.90%) earning Distinction, 9 (2.03%) Merit, 42 (9.48%) Credit, and 388 (87.58%) Pass. Similarly, of this number 25 (5.64%) are PhDs, 145 (32.73%) Academic Masters, 241 (54.40%) Professional Masters, and 32 (7.22%) Postgraduate Diplomas.”

According to her, 8,387 (71%) are males while 3,426 (29%) are females.
