In a bid to curb rising insecurity and promote a safer society, the Professional Hunters Association of Nigeria (PHAN), Bauchi State chapter, has inaugurated and sworn in a new State Commandant to oversee the affairs of the association across the state’s 20 local government areas.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Bauchi, the Deputy National Chairman of the association, Mohammed Yohana, charged members to prioritise national unity and work in synergy with relevant security agencies to achieve the objectives of the association.
He urged officers to place national interest above personal considerations and to discharge their duties diligently and professionally.
Yohana also advised members to always operate in groups during field operations and to avoid lone patrols in order to reduce the risk of attacks by criminals.
Earlier, the Chairman of Bauchi Local Government Area, Alhaji Mahmood Baba Maji, congratulated the newly sworn-in executives and urged them to collaborate closely with security agencies to rid the state of all forms of criminal activities.
He commended the national leadership of PHAN for extending its operations to Bauchi State and assured the association of the local government’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at improving security across the 20 local government areas.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Security and Internal Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Gambo Galadima, praised the association for identifying with Bauchi State at a time of increasing security challenges and pledged the state government’s support.
“Our doors are always open to groups willing to contribute to the overall development of the state, whether in security, the economy, the environment, agriculture, or other sectors,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated Bauchi State Commandant, Alhaji Abubakar Ajiya, pledged to work closely with all security agencies and to uphold the principles of the association in order to achieve its goals.
