Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi has on Friday, unveiled series of activities for the celebration of the state's 50th golden jubilee since its creation in 1976.
The governor while unveiling the activities at the government house, said "Bauchi state at 50 is more than a celebration of time, it is the celebration of heritage, unity, resilience and progress".
"Today we formally begin the journey towards celebrating a defining milestone in our collective history, Bauchi state at 50, our golden jubilee", the governor added.
Bala Mohammed said that the unveiling ceremony signals the commencement of series of commemorative activities marking 50 years of Bauchi state creation and shared progress.
According to him, the milestone is a moment to reflect on the state's heritage, reaffirmed its unity and the commitment of the people of Bauchi state to a future defined by Peace, Innovation and Inclusive Development.
He said since its creation in 1976, the state has advanced through shared effort and collective sacrifice, drawing strength from diversity, industry and resilience of the people of the state.
"The anniversary logo we are unveiling today captures this journey. The circular motive represents our 20 local government areas, symbol using unity, inclusiveness and a shared destiny. The Golden color represents achievement, value and optimism, while the green element speaks of fertility, agriculture, life and hope, enduring strength of Bauchi state", the governor explained.
Bala Mohammed said "the map outline, affirmed our identity, our territorial pride and our rooted place in Nigeria's history and future".
"As we mark this golden jubilee, we honor our past, especially the positive contributions of our leaders, past and present, acknowledge our present and reaffirm our commitment to building a stronger, more innovative and more prosperous Bauchi state for generations to come", he said.
The governor further stated that special Juma'at prayers and inter-denominational church services, commemorative assembly tree planting exercise, anniversary public lecture and panel discussion at the Ahmadu Bello International Conference Center Bauchi, as well as mini-durbar and cultural displays at the Sulaiman Adamu Square government house Bauchi would form part of the activities of the 50th anniversary.
Governor Mohammed who said a gala night and award presentations would be held at the Ahmadu Bello International Conference Center Bauchi to deserving citizens of the state, explained that the anniversary is the business of all the people of Bauchi state.
"I invite every citizen of Bauchi state and our friends at home and abroad to see Bauchi state at 50 as a moment of shared pride, reflection and renewed vigor for enhanced responsibility", the governor disclosed.
