The Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Correspondents' chapel of the union in the state have in a separate press release, condoled families of seven deceased staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) who passed away in a recent ghastly motor accident, along Kaltungo-Gombe road, Gombe state.
The press release jointly e-sign by Isah Garba Gadau and Comrade Umar Sa'idu, Chairman and Secretary respectively, recalled the deceased to include Manu Haruna Kwami, Zarah Umar, Isa Editor, Musa Tabra, Aminu, Adams, and another staff member, while two others, Emmanuel Akila and Steven Doddo had severe injuries.
The Bauchi Council of the NUJ described the loss as "painful and devastating" to the profession and the nation.
Similarly, the Correspondents' chapel of the union in Bauchi, in a press release e-signed by its chairman Ahmed Mohammad and Secretary, Samuel Luka, said history will forever remember the deceased History will forever remember their immense contribution to Nation building.
"While sympathizing with their respective families, friends and the entire NTA family nationwide, in this moment of National grief, we also extend condolences to the NUJ Gombe State council over this sad incident", the release added.
"We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and joint the family and Nigerians in mourning the departed colleagues who have greatly served our fatherland", the press release stated.
The Union prayed for the deceased to be granted Jannatul Firdaus and their loved ones fortitude to bear the loss, and for speedy recovery of the injured.
