Women Leader Tasks Bauchi PDP Members On Voters Registration

By Najib Sani, Gombe

A prominent northern politician and women leader, Hajiya Nafisa Omar, has charged youth and women to massively participate in the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voter registration exercise.

She made the charge during a one-day voter registration mobilisation programme, held at the Conference Hall of the Federal Secretariat in Bauchi organised by the PDP National Youth Vanguard over the weekend.

Nafisa, who also serves as the National President of Kaura United Support Group, stressed that women and youth are key actors during elections saying their registration was essential for PDP's victory in the next elections.

According to her, the fate of the PDP relies on the youth and women as they constitute the highest percentage of voters, urging all party members who reached voting age now to get their voters cards to increase the party's numerical strength during the next general elections.

“Voter registration is a fundamental step in ensuring that citizens’ voices are heard in the democratic process. It promotes inclusivity and strengthens civic participation in elections.

"As PDP youths and women, we have role in making our party stronger. It is not about just being PDP supporters but we must have voters cards to make us make impact in elections. The goal of every political party is to win elections and only registered voters can participate in votings and make that happen,” she said.

In his remarks, the Bauchi State PDP chairman, Alhaji Samaila Burga, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Danlami Garba Tashan Durumi, commended the programme, describing it as timely and crucial.

He noted that mobilising thousands of unregistered youths and citizens would be “the only lawful path” for the PDP to secure electoral victory.

Similarly, the Bauchi State commissioner for Information, Usman Usman Shehu, represented by Manu Ali Kura, pledged the government’s support to extend the mobilisation campaign across all parts of the state.

“You have inspired us to strengthen this drive and ensure that unregistered youths and citizens obtain their voter cards, which remain the only tool for electing leaders of their choice and benefiting from democratic dividends,” he said.
