Bauchi govt commends NGO for strengthening peace through interfaith engagement

The Bauchi State Government has praised Search for Common Ground (SFCG) and its partners for their commitment to promoting peace through interfaith dialogue and youth empowerment.

Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Binni, gave the commendation on Wednesday at the close-out and knowledge-sharing event of the SFCG project in Bauchi. Represented by Pastor Sunday Simon, 

Binni said the initiative has transformed the mindset of youths and religious leaders, fostering harmony and peaceful coexistence across the state.

Ms. Gift Omoniwo, SFCG Programme Officer, thanked the governments of Bauchi, Plateau, and Gombe for providing an enabling environment for the project’s success. 

She explained that the initiative focused on equipping youths with peacebuilding skills, creating interfaith dialogue platforms, and nurturing community-based peace champions.

“There is hope for our youth to sustain peace in their communities,” Omoniwo stated.

Project Manager, Ms. Munira Askira, highlighted the programme’s achievements, emphasizing its role in strengthening grassroots peace efforts.

Also speaking, Mr. Ahmed Abdullahi, a member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly representing Dass Constituency, applauded SFCG’s contributions to peace education. 

He urged young people to embrace dialogue and tolerance, stressing that they have a crucial role in shaping a conflict-free future.
