2027: Group Urges Bauchi Commissioner to Vie For Gov'ship

By Kamal Ibrahim

A group of youths, Gabarin Students Movement has urged the Bauchi State Commissioner for and Youths Sports, Adamu Babayo, to join the race for the 2027 governorship election.

Addressing journalists at a press conference in Bauchi on Monday, spokesperson of the group, Comrade Ahmed Dahiru, said their call was not just political rhetoric but a “historic moment in the journey of our beloved Bauchi State.”

According to Dahiru, Babayo represents the values the state urgently needs: integrity, humility, hard work, and compassion.

“Today, we raise a collective voice, a clarion call, to a man who has devoted his life to public service, who has demonstrated excellence in leadership, and who stands as a symbol of integrity and progress. That man is Honourable Adamu Babayo,” Dahiru declared.

The student body described the commissioner as “a son of the soil” whose life experiences mirror those of ordinary citizens in Bauchi.

They pointed out that he grew up among the people, shared their struggles, and remained committed to addressing their needs through public service.

“Hon.Babayo is not an outsider to the people of Bauchi. He has walked the same paths as our farmers, our traders, our civil servants, and our students. He understands the challenges of our people because he has lived among them, listened to them, and worked tirelessly to address their needs,” Dahiru added.

Our correspondent reports that the movement’s appeal comes amid growing political realignments in Bauchi ahead of the 2027 elections, with youths increasingly making their voices heard in governance debates. While Babayo is yet to make an official statement regarding his political future, observers say the support of the student community could play a decisive role in shaping the dynamics of the race.
