The lawmaker representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, has extended his condolences to the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, over the death of his mother, Mama Lydia Yilwatda, who passed away a few days ago.
In a statement by the Senator, he described the loss as painful and deeply shocking.
"On behalf of myself, my family, associates, and the entire people of Bauchi South Senatorial District, I write to commiserate with you over the sad loss of our mother, Mama Lydia Yilwatda.
"Given who she was, it is stating the obvious that Mama occupied an immeasurable position in your life. She also played a unique role in various aspects of our societal life, a role that became even more significant with your recent emergence as the National Chairman of our great party," the condolences message read in part.
Senator Buba, who also paid a condolence visit to Prof. Yilwatda yesterday, noted that having known the Yilwatda family, he could attest to the remarkable role Mama Lydia and the late Reverend Thoma Goshewe Yilwatda played in molding the APC chairman into the exemplary leader he has become.
"I can well imagine how huge and irreparable this loss is to you, the Yilwatda family, the Church, our party, and the nation as a whole," he said.
While urging Prof. Yilwatda and his family to take solace in the indelible legacy Mama Lydia left behind, Buba encouraged them to draw inspiration from her impactful and fulfilling life.
"This is the best way to sustain the great legacies of the Yilwatda family while also inspiring younger generations to follow such worthy examples," he added.
Senator Buba prayed for God to grant Prof. Yilwatda and his family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
"May the Almighty God grant you strength, fortitude, and comfort in this trying time. Once again, Mr. Chairman, kindly accept our deepest condolences and assurances of highest regards," the statement concluded.
