A philanthropist, Dr. Bala Wunti, has donated 2,200 bags of fertilizer to the Bauchi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in support of President Bola Tinubu’s agricultural transformation programme.
Dr. Wunti, represented by Usman Yau, at the official handing-over ceremony on Sunday in Bauchi said his gesture was driven by the President’s reforms in the agricultural sector.
“Which seek to strengthen food security, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth,” he said. He explained that 2,000 bags would be distributed to APC leadership across the 20 local government areas of the state, while the remaining 200 bags were allocated to the state party leadership.
According to him, the intervention reflects his commitment to empowering farmers to maximize yields and boost productivity during the current farming season.
“Supporting agriculture is critical to tackling poverty, reducing unemployment, and improving livelihoods.
“We have donated similar support of fertiliser to other political parties and organisations to support the federal government food security reforms,” he noted.
Wunti added that the gesture would make a meaningful contribution to enhancing food security in Bauchi State and beyond.
Responding, Bauchi State APC Chairman, Alhaji Hassan Tilde, expressed deep appreciation to the donor, describing the support as both timely and impactful.
He observed that access to fertilizer remains a major challenge for many farmers, particularly in rural areas, and stressed that the donation would go a long way in bridging the gap.
“This intervention will significantly improve agricultural production in the state.
“On behalf of the Bauchi APC, we sincerely thank Dr. Wunti for his generosity and commitment to the growth of our party and the development of our state,” Tilde said.
He further assured that the fertilizers would be distributed equitably across the state’s 20 LGAs to ensure transparency and reach genuine beneficiaries.
