2027: ex-Commissioner describes Pate as ‘most’ credible candidate to lead Bauchi

By Ahmad Saka

A former Commissioner for Agriculture, Bauchi State, Bala Othman Suleiman has described the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate as a credible candidate to contest the governorship seat.

Bala said this when he while speaking with reporters in Bauchi on Thursday, he said looking at the Minister’s position across the globe and his performance as a minister of health, if Pate agreed to throw in his hat as a governor, he has the capacity to tackle the “endemic, extreme poverty permeating the state and pursue development in all sectors –education, health care, agriculture and others”.

According to him, Pate will be “a credible candidate because he represents a clear choice for truth, justice, progress and prosperity. His golden key will unlock the potentials of Bauchi State, so that all its citizens will enjoy decency, progress and prosperity,” he said.

Former Commissioner said Pate would be committed to enthroning a new vision that would make “Bauchi State become the best place to live, visit and work in the entire Federal Republic of Nigeria and the world because he will focus on the agendas outlined like creating high-quality jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.

“He would empower small-holder and large-scale farmers to boost their productivity and access to markets, he will build agro-industrial infrastructure, including dams and irrigation schemes, and create innovative micro- and meso-finance arrangements for artisans, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises to have access to capital to grow their businesses, and he will transform our State’s social welfare, education and health systems to be the best in the country.

"Pate’s decision to return to Nigeria rather than pursue a prestigious global position reflects his unwavering commitment to his country’s health sector, as testified by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
