An erstwhile member, House of Representatives, Hon. Madaki Ahmed Gololo who has served twice, representing Gamawa Federal Constituency has been sworn in as the executive chairman of Gamawa local government alongside 19 others.
The chairmen emerged from the Saturday's Bauchi State local government poll where all the 20 candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) declared winners.
Among the elected officials is Hajara Gidado, ex-commissioner Women Affairs and Child Development, as Chairperson Itas/Gadau and female deputy chairperson for Darazo, Amina Musa.
The Chief Judge, Justice Rabiu Talatu Umar administered the oath office and oath allegiance at the Government House on Sunday evening after receiving their certificates of return from the State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC).
Speaking on behalf of others after swearing in, the Chairman of Bauchi local government, Mahmoud Babamaji acknowledged that the grassroot has more responsibilities with recent local government autonomy. “We recognise that the state cannot do without the Federal, we are also going to work with the State to bring needed development,” he said.
Meanwhile, the main opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the outcome of the exercise, calling for dissolution of the Electoral Commission, and a fresh election.
