Downpour washes over 60 hectares of farmland in Jigawa communities

Rainfall has washed over 60 hectares of farmland at Tashena and Arki Villages of Malam Madori local Government area of Jigawa state.

Farm produce which was completely ravaged by water include rice farm and maize in the area. According to one of the locals, Alhaji Haruna, also a victim of the  disaster, said his two hectares of maize farm have been washed by flood and rainwater occupying the farmlands in the area.

He explained that many farms were seriously affected as the farmers were preparing to harvest their farm produce and expecting large quantities of outputs to harvest if their farms were not submerged by flood.

He explained that the flood in Matsa and  Agin village of Arki ward has continuously destroyed hundreds of farmlands due to over flooding in rice and maize farms in the area.

Also, a resident of Matsa area Muhammad Sani Arki said that the flood ravaged many farmlands due to incessant rainfall.

The head of Tashena Village, Malam Yunusah Bulama said that he is compiling the names of the affected victims in his community and forwarding to the concerned leaders for an urgent action.
