The Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Imam AbdulRahman Ibrahim has lauded the G JJovernor, Bala Mohammed for gifting the 2,682 state contingents the sum of N724,944,600 as allowance and Sallah gifts.
Mohammed had earlier gifted each pilgrim $100 in Nigeria before proceeding to Mecca last month, he however donated the sum of SAR300 (Saudi Arabia Riyal) for Eid-El-Kabir in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The last batch of the state pilgrims landed at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport on Tuesday, where the 2024 Amir Hajj and the Emir of Dass, Usman Bilyamin Othman II and officials of the Board arrived safely.
Ibrahim who spoke with journalists at the Airport in Bauchi immediately after the aircraft touched ground, said that although, there were many lost lives but none of the pilgrims died of the heatwaves that affected many pilgrims.
According to him, "The 2024 Hajj operation was first of its kind in the history of the state considering the smooth and hitch-free conduct of the exercise."
He attributed the successes to the Governor Mohammed whom he said gave his support to the pilgrims and the Board from preparation, during the Hajj exercise and the climax of the exercise.
Mohammed had earlier supported the pilgrims with N2.1billion over the sudden increase in the fee by the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON). Each pilgrim got N950,000 to pay up the increase.
The Ibrahim also said that throughout the exercise, the Governor Mohammed was seen going round all the places the pilgrims were to ensure that they got the best of welfare treatment.
According to him,"The Governor ensured that we got the best of accommodation and food as well as medical attention. It was indeed a rare display of service by the Governor."
Among the returnees were the Special Adviser to the Governor on Hajj Affairs, Hon. Shehu Alh. Wadaji, the Chairman of the Board, Alh. Nuru Adamu Jumba and his Members as well as Islamic Preachers, Hajj Guides, Medical team and other pilgrims.
