Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the death of four people while many injured in an accident in Jalam town, Dambam local government of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Ahmed Wakil who confirmed the incident said that all four deceased casualties were women. He identified them as; Ai'shatu Salihu aged 25, Furera Haladu aged 25, Zuwaira Dandija aged 19, and Lahala Muhammed aged 41.
Wakil explained that occupants in the vehicle were more than 30 people heading to a market in Sade. He attributed the incident to over speeding and loss of control, resulting in the vehicle somersaulting.
“Many people were injured. When the police took them to the hospital, the doctor confirmed four people dead.”
He said the State Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Mohammed commiserated with the family of the deceased and advised them to remain calm and urged the drivers to always follow and obey traffic laws.
A resident of Jalam said the accident happened in a village called Dutsin Hari along Jalam to Lanzai road in Darazo Local Government Area.
