Kaduna advocates stronger fight against quackery in pharmacy practice

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has described Professor Ahmed Tijjani Mora as a towering figure in Nigeria’s pharmaceutical sector whose contributions to pharmacy education, regulation and mentorship have left lasting impacts across the country and the West African sub-region. 

Representing the Governor at the public presentation of a book titled “Professor Ahmed Tijjani Mora: A Pillar of Pharmacy Regulation in Nigeria” and the scholar’s 70th birthday celebration in Kaduna, the Governor Sani's Principal Private Secretary, Professor Bello Ayuba, said Prof. Mora’s footprints in the pharmaceutical industry would remain indelible for generations.

The Governor also commended the authors, students and associates of Prof. Mora for documenting his achievements for posterity, noting that his decades of service in academia and pharmaceutical regulation deserved recognition. 

According to the Governor, Prof. Mora’s commitment to ethical standards and professional discipline has strengthened the pharmacy profession in Nigeria. He further called on pharmacy practitioners to safeguard the profession against quackery and ensure strict adherence to ethical conduct in order to protect public health and improve healthcare delivery in the country.

Governor Sani equally highlighted some achievements of his administration under the seven-point agenda, including the construction and rehabilitation of over 1,000 kilometres of roads, the upgrade of more than 225 Primary Healthcare Centres, and the establishment of 62 science secondary schools across the state. 

He added that the administration’s agricultural support programmes and peace-building efforts had restored harmony and boosted investment, trade and infrastructural development in Kaduna State, leading to landmark projects such as the 300-bed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Millennium Hospital and mass transit terminals.
