Bauchi govt intensifies effort to scales up nutrition in 20 LGAs

The Bauchi State Government has assured of scaling up the fight against malnutrition in the 20 local government areas.

The Commissioner of Budget, Planning, and Multilateral Coordination, Hajiya Amina Katagum, stated this while receiving a group of civil society organisations on an advocacy visit on nutrition supported by GAIN under the CASCADE project in the state.

The Commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Jibrin Mohammed Yusufassured them of government commitment to strengthening nutrition budget lines, prioritising timely release and utilization of funds, institutionalizing annual performance reviews, as well as demonstrating leadership by making nutrition a development and economic priority.

The Commissioner also promised to collaborate with the Civil Society Organisation on their quest to achieve the desired objectives within the entire twenty local governments of the state.

Abigail Hardo, the Executive Director, Aid Connect, represented the CSOs group, saying they are at the budget ministry to align themselves with government efforts and to show their commitment and readiness to support the state on nutrition activities.

They also reaffirmed their partnership and institutionalized a clear and standalone nutrition budget line across relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Other CSOs represented while assuring working collaborations on nutrition in the state.
