Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has commended the effort of Toro Science School Old Boys Association TOSSOBA Set of 85 for their support to the progress of education in the state.
Mohammed made the commendation during the reception in honor of Toro Science School Old Boys Association, set 85 and unveiling of the construction of the proposed examination hall, rehabilitation of five kilometer road network/ resurfacing and commissioning of a renovated block of class rooms and 50 solar power street lights to their Alma mater held at Event center Bauchi.
The governor represented by the state commissioner of education Dr Muhammad Lawan Rimin Zayam expressed satisfaction with the contributions of the association, their Alma mater and the state in general.
He said that his administration has provided a conducive learning environment for educational drives across the nooks and crannies of the state.
The Governor assured the state government readiness to work with Toro Science School Old Boys Association and relevant associations for the development of the state particularly in the education sector where he called on other ALUMNI to emulate TOSSOBA set 85.
In their separate Goodwill messages the Emir of Dass Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman and State PDP chairman Pharmacist Samaila Burga described the reunion as special day to interact and discuss on vital issues that would move them ahead.
Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman and Samaila Burga who are members of the association appreciated the effort of the set for their contributions gesture to GSSS Toro and the cordial relationship existing among the members of the association and called for its sustenance
They called on the state government to ensure students were properly selected to suit their educational needs to include science and art courses.
In his vote of thanks professor Samson Duna who shared a memory lane while at GSSS Toro and prayed for the souls of members who have passed away.
Earlier, the Chairman Toro Old Boys Associations set 85 Hon. Mohammed Alhassan Sadiq enumerated major challenges facing the school especially lack of fence and endowment and called on relevant stakeholders to urgently intervene for security reasons and development of the school.
He enumerated the achievements recorded by the association in the school and appreciate Governor Bala Mohammed for honouring their invitation through the Education commissioner and his developmental projects in Bauchi State.
He assured their continue Unity with determination and collective intervention of supporting state government towards improving education in the state.
Highlights at the occasion were a paper presentation on a good student teacher relationship as a crucial foundation for success in life by Hamidu Kadi Kuta former Head of service Niger State who was a teacher of GSSS Toro in 1982- 1989 and awards to some of their distinguished members of the association.
